Where to start with this topic.  From rates of force experienced in police encounters [STAT] (from non-fatal to media-grabbing fatal ones), to the percentage of prison versus public population {STAT], to the demographics of defendants qualifying for free legal service [stat], to death-row inmates [STAT], gaps in the criminal justice system are stark and disproportionately skewed against African-Americans and the poor.
